Calling all AOTA Members!

Dr. Cheryl Miller-Scott, Vice President of Therapy Operations for HealthSouth/Encompass Health and member of Interactive Metronome Clinical Advisory Board, has had the prestigious honor of being nominated for a position on the AOTA Board of Directors. Sixteen years ago, Dr. Miller brought the Interactive Metronome technology to HealthSouth Sunrise, showing positive outcomes amongst geriatric and pediatric patients. We are enthusiastic to support Dr. Miller in obtaining a position with the AOTA Board of Directors and encourage our network to cast their vote and do the same.

A letter from Cheryl:

“In 2018, it is with great honor that I announce that I have been nominated for a position on the AOTA Board of Directors. In the past I have had the privilege to serve on several AOTA workgroups and ad hoc committees, helping to promote leadership in the field of occupational therapy, the centennial vision of OT, and the role of occupational therapy in the constantly changing healthcare environment.

During my near 35 year career as an OT I have held many leadership roles, remaining committed to mentoring future clinicians and leaders. In my role on the Board of Directors I would be afforded the opportunity to leverage my leadership experience to help position the OT profession to use our unique approach to healthcare as a key element to the future health and wellness of all those we serve. I am committed to continue to support the mission of those who have served before me towards the AOTA’s Vision 2025, and seek new opportunities for OT to use our distinct value to advance our profession.

I have also served on several Center for Medicare Services Technical Expert Panels to help define the future of healthcare reimbursement. My experience with different payment models offer me a unique insight to OTs role in future healthcare reform. Finally, serving as the treasurer and on the board of trustees for the American Occupational Therapy Foundation has offered me insight to the inner workings and responsibilities of volunteering and service.
